Try It Now — Content Sprint

🚀
What You Will Need for This Exercise
Open ChatGPT (chat.openai.com) or Claude (claude.ai) in your browser or phone. A free account on either platform is enough. If you are on mobile data, Claude tends to use slightly less data. This exercise takes approximately 15 minutes. Keep your conversation open in one tab — you will build on each prompt.

Your Mission: A 15-Minute Content Sprint

You are going to pick a simple business idea and use AI to generate three real pieces of content for it — in one session. This is exactly the kind of work a marketing freelancer in Nairobi would charge a client KES 3,000–10,000 to produce. You are going to do it yourself, right now.

Step 1 — Choose Your Business (2 minutes)

  • A home-cooked meal delivery service for students near your campus
  • A mobile phone screen repair service operating out of a market in your town
  • A freelance CV writing and LinkedIn profile service for recent Kenyan graduates
  • A WhatsApp-based tutoring service for Form 3 and Form 4 students in a specific subject
  • Your own idea — write one sentence describing what you do and who it is for
📝
Before You Start Prompting: Write down — (1) your business name or idea, (2) your target customer in one sentence, (3) the main problem you solve. Having this written down will make your prompts much sharper.

Step 2 — Generate a WhatsApp Launch Message (4 minutes)

💬
"Write a WhatsApp broadcast message to launch my [type of business] called [business name]. My customers are [describe them]. The main benefit I offer is [key benefit]. Price is [your price]. Tone: friendly and warm, mix of Swahili and English. Maximum 5 short sentences. End with a clear call to action."

Read the result. Does it sound natural — like something a real Kenyan entrepreneur would send? If not, reply to the AI: "Make it sound more casual and local, like how a young person in Nairobi would write it." Keep iterating until you are happy.

Step 3 — Generate an Instagram Caption (4 minutes)

💬
"Now write an Instagram caption for the same business. Imagine the photo shows [describe a simple, real image — e.g. 'a plate of home-cooked ugali and sukuma wiki' or 'hands fixing a phone screen']. The caption should grab attention in the first line, tell a short story or make a point, and end with a question or call to action. Include 4 relevant hashtags including #Nairobi or a relevant Kenyan city."

Again, edit for authenticity. Add a local touch the AI may have missed — a Sheng phrase, a reference to a real place, or something that makes it feel genuinely Kenyan.

Step 4 — Generate a 30-Second Video Script (4 minutes)

💬
"Write a 30-second TikTok or Instagram Reel script for my business. Structure it as: HOOK (first 3 seconds — grab attention), PROBLEM (5 seconds — the pain the viewer feels), SOLUTION (10 seconds — what I offer), PROOF (5 seconds — one reason to trust me), and CALL TO ACTION (7 seconds — tell them exactly what to do). Conversational, energetic tone. In English with natural Swahili words mixed in."

Step 5 — Reflect and Review (1 minute)

  • Which piece are you most proud of? What made it work?
  • Where did the AI get the Kenyan context wrong, and how did you fix it?
  • How long did this take compared to writing it all yourself from scratch?
  • Would you be comfortable posting any of these today? If not — what one edit would make it ready?

You Just Did Real Marketing Work
A WhatsApp message, an Instagram caption, and a short video script — that is a complete mini content calendar for a product launch. You built it in 15 minutes using AI as your creative partner. This is a skill you can offer to businesses as a service, use to grow your own hustle, or add to your CV as a demonstrated capability. Well done.
