Head of Curriculum

Full-time · Nairobi (hybrid)

The product IS the curriculum. Five courses and 250 lessons are live today — covering AI foundations, job seeking, agriculture, ethics, and AI safety — and they need an owner who treats learning design as a craft. You will raise the bar on every lesson, keep content current as AI changes monthly, and define the assessment standard behind a certificate Kenyan employers learn to trust.

What you will do

  • Own all five courses (250 lessons): accuracy, clarity, and currency as the AI landscape shifts month to month.
  • Write and edit bilingual lessons — English and Kiswahili — that a student reading on a phone, on a budget, actually finishes.
  • Design assessments that mean something: unit quizzes, capstone projects, and the certificate standard behind /verify.
  • Ground every example in Kenyan reality — M-Pesa, matatu SACCOs, Gikomba, county offices, KCSE revision, smallholder farms.
  • Partner on Rafiki: shape the tutor’s prompts and persona so it teaches the curriculum, not around it.
  • Use completion and quiz data to find exactly where learners struggle — then fix those lessons.

What we are looking for

  • 4+ years in curriculum development, instructional design, teaching, or learning content.
  • A course, program, or body of teaching material you built that we can review.
  • Full professional fluency in BOTH English and Kiswahili — our content ships in both, and the Kiswahili must be excellent, not translated-sounding.
  • Genuine daily fluency with AI tools (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and beyond) — you can only teach what you actually use.
  • A learner-outcome mindset: you measure completion and assessment results, not just content shipped.

Nice to have (not required)

  • Formal learning-science or assessment-design background.
  • A network in Kenyan universities or TVET institutions.
  • Experience teaching digital skills to first-time technology users.
  • WhatsApp-based or low-bandwidth teaching formats.

What we offer

  • A founding seat: meaningful equity plus a salary calibrated to our stage — discussed openly in the first conversation.
  • Authorship of a curriculum built to reach hundreds of thousands of Kenyan learners.
  • A live platform and real learners from day one — your improvements ship the same week you write them.
